The health card is issued with the health insurance policy and is like an identity card with contact info of the insured and TPA. It entitles the insured to cashless hospitalization at the TPA network hospitals. With the card, the insured can get treatment without paying, since the insurer takes care of it directly. If treatment is at a non-network hospital, however, the bills must be borne by the insured and claimed later along with relevant documents for reimbursement. The health card also serves as an identification if there is an accident so that family can be alerted.
